Why recycling matters for our environment

Recycling gives accepted materials another life. Bottles, cans, and cardboard that are successfully recycled can become raw materials for new products instead of being discarded.

Save resources and energy

Using recycled materials can reduce demand for newly extracted resources and often uses less energy than making materials from scratch. Aluminum recycling is especially valuable because producing aluminum from ore takes substantial energy. Benefits vary by material and process.

Reduce waste

Recycling can reduce useful material sent to landfills. Responsible waste handling helps prevent litter from reaching waterways and wildlife habitats. Reducing purchases and reusing items are important too.

Build better habits

Keep accepted recyclables empty and clean, flatten cardboard, and avoid adding items just because you hope they are recyclable. Contamination makes sorting harder. Doorstep pickup makes a recycling routine convenient. Text 501-356-5549 to confirm accepted materials and schedule pickup.
